Our service
BoatMechanic provides general educational guidance, interactive diagnostic checklists, and a way to prepare a diagnostic report email. The service is intended to help you organise observations and understand possible next steps for marine engine and boat faults.
Important safety and advice notice
Our content is general information, not a substitute for a manufacturer’s service manual, a qualified marine engineer, or emergency assistance. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, use appropriate safety equipment, and stop operating equipment if it may be unsafe. Do not work near a running propeller, fuel vapour, hot components, or electrical systems unless you are competent and it is safe to do so.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide, for checking any recommendation against your engine’s model-specific documentation, and for deciding whether to seek professional inspection. Please do not submit information that you are not entitled to share. When attaching photos or videos to an email, review the attachment and recipient before sending.
Availability, liability, and changes
BoatMechanic aims to keep its information helpful and current, but does not guarantee that every checklist, outcome, or response will be complete, suitable, or error-free for every engine or situation. To the extent permitted by law, use of this website is at your own risk. We may update, suspend, or change the service and these terms from time to time.
